Maybe it's Carrs, formerly known as Safeway!!! ;-)
All of the Flyers ads they run have both the CARRS/SAFEWAY on them for Alaska, but on their own website they just list CARRS.
Who knows, for short I think just listing it as Carrs is enough, and everyone knows what it's for.

Maybe nobody's last name is all caps, but Prince (or The Artist Formerly Known As) legally changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol.

I think it would be odd if it was all caps, since Carrs isn't an acronym, it was named after the founder (and nobody's last name is all caps).

You know I'm not sure if they are all Caps? I'll check when I go back to work down there on Wednesday. Like you said, all the ads in the newspaper have it as CARRS/Safeway. Plus my paper work has it it as CARRS Store #1807 etc. Alaska Ron ®

Alaska Ron - are you saying Carrs should be in all caps? I have noticed that on the website they use all caps in the company logo, but any text on the website uses Carrs / Safeway, not all caps.

kwesi, your accounts should already be linked if you use the same login name. My Anchorage and Alaska logins reflect the same points, and I never did anything to link them.

I noticed that two people are starting to use the name Safeway again when posting our gas prices. I work in the CARRS stores as a contractor, they are actually listed as CARRS stores in Alaska that's why the signage on the buildings say - CARRS. The listing in their nationwide store number directory also list our stores as CARRS/Safeway. Safeway Corp. decidedseven years ago to keep the Anchorage stores as "CARRS" because the Alaskans were upset with the buy out. Let's all get on the same page.. Alaska Ron ®

So basically they're saying one card will serve different accounts at each division. Such as, my local Fred Meyer card will give me Kroger points Outside. Now the big question, how do they get me my points at pay-out time?

Well, Roginator, you got me wondering...so I e-mailed Fred Meyer. Here is their reply:
Thank you for taking the time to contact Fred Meyer Rewards. At this time, all Kroger division stores have different card programs and each has their own separate Customer database. The cards from different division stores do not overlap and are not currently interchangeable. If you were to use your Fred Meyer Rewards card inside a different Kroger division store, it would work just like a loyalty card issued for that store. It would not earn Fred Meyer Rewards points, nor would it be able to detect the Fred Meyer Rewards and Fuel points you have earned with your Rewards card.

Can I use my Fred Meyer card at Kroger?
I know I can use my Carrs card at Safeways... even used it down in California.

Maybe "the powers that be" are trying to clean up the drop-down list a bit, since they recently added AAFES & now Carrs. I never have gone to the Alaska site, so I don't know what shape it is in. I just recently started looking at the forum & wasn't involved in the previous Carrs/Safeway discussion. All I can say is, thank goodness Fred Meyer is a bigger, more independent chain or we would have to also be posting to Fred Meyer/Kroger! <grin>

Your right, I changed it to Carrs, I had set my favorites list up from others posting when I should have done it from the master listing.
I also agree that Airports Heights is more well known. I think that everyone has more of an idea where that is.
I also agree that the drop down list is out of date, but we can only work with what we have, even if it not the best.

So why are you using "CARRS"?
I see the list of stations in the drop-down list is..uh.. somewhat dated and lacks some stations. It's even worse on the Alaska site.
I thought we agreed a few months ago in this thread that "Carrs/Safeway" was the most accurate description.
PS - when reviewing Google Maps, it appears the correct cross street for the Northway Mall Carrs would be Kids Ct. I guess it just depends on how nitpicky we want to be. I can pick nits with the best of them, but I usually only get peeved when bad prices are posted. A more logical choice of cross streets would be Glenn Hwy & Airport Heights. Not precisely accurate, but more useful to the majority of people.

I agree with akmom, the drop down menu for searching for gas stations has just Carrs.
When you do the search it doesn't pull up the Carrs/Safeway in the listings
Such as: (which isn't the official one either) Carrs/Safeway Anchorage - NE Northway Mall (3¢ more off with Carrs card) (which isn't the official one either)
The official one for this should be:
Carrs (w/card) 3411 Penland Pkwy Cross: Airport Heights Dr Anchorage , AK 99508

It looks like the decision has been made by the Moderator. I'm just wondering if it is time to call a truce as to exactly what to call Carrs gas stations now that it is listed in the "search for gas prices" scrolling list on the left side of the homepage as "Carrs" (not CARRS or Carr's or Carrs/Safeway). I always thought the last one is a bit silly as other stores owned by Safeway in other areas still go by their name, for example, Vons not Vons/Safeway. I think most people who have the discount card know that Safeway owns quite a few other chains & if traveling would look up what other places their card is good at.

I vote Carrs/Safeway (note I don't capitalize CARRS - that looks ugly when most of the other stations aren't fully capitalized). That way out-of-towners from the rest of Alaska know they can use their Safeway cards there. The more information people have, the better decision they can make regarding where to get gas.
My old card says Safeway Club at the top. There is still quite a bit that says Safeway in the stores.
I believe Carrs only exists in Palmer, Anchorage and Eagle River. Maybe Wasilla?
